How to use the Labels

With the Manual Thinking Removable Labels you can collect all thoughts, ideas and opinions of your team members. For a quick communication of their content it is important for everyone to make clear and concise notes, if possible with drawings. There are 12 types of removable Manual Thinking labels, including 5 different sizes and 6 different colors. They are generally used in the following way:

Large Circles: Ideas and (sub)titles in written words and sketches
Medium oblongs: Brief written content, keywords, opinions
Coloured oblongs: Add categories, highlight content or follow specific colour related methods
Small oblongs: Single words, elements, names
Small circles: Numbers and letters for indexation
Draw-Cut-Paste: Doodles and illustrations without boundaries
XL Circle: Print method templates
Removable lines: Connect labels, visualize hierarchy through different thickness

Tip: For an optimal result, use the labels in combination with the Manual Thinking Markers. The tip size encourages to abbreviate the content and the resulting map will be readable at glance. It is hihgly recommended for everybody to use the same writing material to diminish traces of individuals, and to create a uniform visual language.

Organizing the Labels

Once you and your team members have created some labels, you can organize them on the surface of a Manual Thinking Map.

Tip: Want to play with the structure of the map? Use the labels in combination with the Manual Thinking Sliders, to flip, slide and exchange your labels before sticking them on their final position.

When organizing the labels on a map, follow these suggestions:
* Place labels with similar content close to each other
** When content is different, place distant
*** When content is the same, overlap the labels slightly (visualize each!)
**** When a group of labels with similar content is detected, find and note their common concept in a different colored label and place it in the center.
